Question 1

Do you shrink wrap outdoor furniture for the winter?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Teak & Shine wraps outdoor furniture and structures across the South Fork from Montauk to Westhampton. Restoration is teak only, but wrapping is not: patio furniture, dining and lounge sets, BBQs, outdoor kitchens, gazebos, pergolas and farm equipment are all wrapped.

Question 2

How much does teak restoration cost in the Hamptons?

Accepted Answer

Pricing depends on the piece, its condition and how many items you have, so every job is quoted individually. Text quotes are free — send photos to (631) 796-9505.

Question 3

Do you charge for an estimate?

Accepted Answer

Text quotes are free and welcome — send photos of the furniture to (631) 796-9505 and you will get a number back at no cost. An in-person estimate with a formal written proposal is $100, and that fee is credited in full toward your service invoice.

Question 4

Do you pressure wash teak furniture?

Accepted Answer

No. High-pressure blasting tears the soft grain and leaves a fuzzy, splintery surface that traps dirt and mildew faster than before. Teak & Shine uses a two-step chemical hand-cleaning process that lifts growth out of the pores without eroding the wood.

Question 5

My teak has turned grey. Is it ruined?

Accepted Answer

No. Greying is a surface-level weathering layer; the wood underneath is unchanged. Cleaning and brightening removes it, and sanding levels the grain so the original colour returns.

Question 6

What is the difference between cleaning and full restoration?

Accepted Answer

Clean & Brighten is a gentle hand wash with a brightening treatment, and it does not remove heavy deep-grain staining. Full Restoration adds deep cleaning, two-step brightening, and hand and machine sanding to level the grain.

Question 7

Should I seal my teak or let it go silver?

Accepted Answer

Both are valid. High-quality teak weathers to a silver-grey patina without losing durability. If you want the golden honey tone kept, a marine-grade sealer gives roughly 2 to 4 months of protection in heavy sun and up to 6 months in moderate sun.

Question 8

Which towns do you serve?

Accepted Answer

Teak & Shine serves the Hamptons from Montauk to Westhampton, including Montauk, Amagansett, East Hampton, Wainscott, Sagaponack, Bridgehampton, Sag Harbor, Water Mill, Southampton, Westhampton, Quogue Village.

Question 9

When should I book teak restoration?

Accepted Answer

April through June 15th is the busiest season, when estates are prepared for summer. Booking before April 15th is recommended to secure a date ahead of the rush.

Question 10

How does the process work?

Accepted Answer

Four steps: initial contact, a consultation to inspect the pieces, the scheduled service itself, and a final walkthrough. Texting photos at the first step is free and gets a number back fastest.

Question 11

What do you not do?

Accepted Answer

No aggressive high-pressure blasting, no bleach-based shortcuts, and no sealing without an explicit request. Power washing and landscaping are not offered — the work is dedicated to teak and outdoor wood care.
